Beginning this 2017-2018 school year, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) made its way onto the Pinecrest campus. PBIS is a national program that began in elementary and middle schools, and it has now made its way into high schools. The goal of PBIS is to encourage positive behavior among students. Assistant Principal Deborah Trogdon, the administrator in charge of PBIS, said, “Teenagers are very focused on themselves. PBIS teaches them that it’s about others as well.” Read more...

November 1 Marks the Beginning of College Application Month

Starting November 1, 2017, Pinecrest counselors will begin helping senior with the first week of College Application Month. “College Application Month is to highlight the application process and all of its components. This includes, but is not limited to, the FAFSA, Residency Determination Service (RDS), and the application process itself,” said Cherry. “Some colleges also waive their application fees, which allows students to take advantage of a free application.” Read more...

Pinecrest Players Receive Honorable Mention

On October 27 and 28, 2017, Pinecrest Players performed She Kills Monsters at the North Carolina Theatre Conference play festival. Union Pines High School hosted the festival. There were fourteen schools performing and sixteen shows presented. Read more...
