Winter Track Ends and Spring Track Begins

By Katie Blevins

Indoor track season has come to an end and outdoor season has began. The Pinecrest track team just finished their indoor track season. The season ended at the state's conference at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem where senior Tyrese Kelly came in first in the state in triple jump and second in the state in long jump.

Monday February 13, 2017 was the first day of the new outdoor track season. Everyone can participate in track without any experience, as long as you have a physical and fill out a concussion form.

Junior Gabrielle Flanders said, “[I joined track because] it keeps me in physically fit and there are a lot of fun people on the team.”

Junior Taya Mckeithan said, “I kept doing track because it’s something that I like to do and it keeps me in shape and active.”

The first meet for the new season will be held on February 28, 2017 called the Moore County Championship against North Moore High School, Sandhills Classical Christian School, The O’Neal School and Union Pines High School.

Seniors Destiny Persons, Anjel Rowe and Junior Taya Mckeithan at the Patriot Last Chance meet February 4, 2017.
