Girls Tennis Wins Conference Tournament

On Tuesday. October 10, 2017, the girls tennis team competed in the conference tournament at McLeod Tennis Courts. Pinecrest placed first of eight teams.

 

“We swept the conference regular season with a record of 14-0,” senior Claudia Ray said.

 

The team has an overall record of sixteen wins and two losses.

 

The team placed first and second in doubles and singles. Doubles consists of teams of twos whereas singles is one player. Players from the same schools can play against each other in matches.

 

“It's  really cool because you get to compete against other teams together, but we also get to compete against each other,” said sophomore Maddie Arrington.

 

Arrington and senior Lizzy McClymont played against seniors Chappy and Claudia Ray. Arrington and McClymont placed first in doubles. Chappy and Claudia Ray placed second in doubles.

 

Senior Emma Gentry Landry and sophomore Caroline Landry placed against each other in singles. Emma Gentry Landry placed first in the tournament, and Caroline Landry placed second in the tournament.

 

On October 18, 2017, the team competed in the first round of playoffs against Middle Creek High School at Pinecrest. They won 6-3. The next game is on October 24, 2017 against Cardinals Gibbons High School.
