“The season went really well, we played as a team and kept up staying consistent the entire season. We prepared for conference knowing that every team would be coming after us, knowing we are the team to beat. We keep our heads high up and never give up. We performed well in our games, of course, we struggled in some games as any team does, but we always came back better than ever,” Santoyo said.

On Thursday, October 26, 2017, the team defeated Jack Britt High School in the conference championship game with a score of 3-0. The goals were scored by Edgerly, Smith, and sophomore Ryan Greene. The team continued to the state tournament playing on November 4. The final score was 3-2 in favor of Paige High School.

The team's record for the 2017 season is 13-1. Their conference record is 19-2-1. The team is ranked in at 74. Their one loss was against Lumberton High School with a final score of 1-0.

“But as far as preparation goes, everyone knows what’s at stake in the conference tournament. If we win, we advance. If we lose, we’re out. So really, the only change in preparation is mental. We have to come out with more intensity and urgency than our opponents. This team has found ways to win all year and we hope to keep that going moving forward,” Smith said.
