Soccer Remains Undefeated

By Kathryn Holton

Varsity boys soccer is off to a great start. With nine games played, the team has yet to lose a game, and they are ranked first in their conference.

“I’m proud of the team so far,” Mr. Chris Fitzgerald, the head coach for the team, said. “I am hoping to stay strong throughout the rest of the season.”

The team’s captains are junior Jasper Ardinger, senior Alex Miller, and senior Hayden Smith. Together they work together to help improve the team.

“We all have a fun time in practice no matter if it's drills or fitness. I couldn't ask for a better team to help me improve myself as a player and an individual,” senior Ethan Santoyo said.

On Wednesday September 27, 2017, Pinecrest played against Seventy-First High School, a high school in Fayetteville. Pinecrest won the game 6-1. The goals were scored by Smith, senior Noah Edgerly, senior Connor Gavin, Ardinger, and sophomore Jair Ballesteros.

The previous game on Monday, September 25, 2017, Pinecrest played against Lumberton. After going into overtime, Pinecrest won the game 3-2. Senior Lucas Woody, senior Jimmy Kester, and senior Wes Clark scored the goals.
