Cross Country Wins Conference Championship

On Tuesday, October 18, the Patriots cross country team took on Richmond Senior High School, Hoke County High School, and Scotland High School.

 

This was the Southeastern 4A Conference Championship.

For the boys team, junior Colin Alexander finished in first with a time of 18:07.50, freshman AJ Williams finished second with a time of 18:42.40, and junior Nick Klug came in third with a time of 18:42.50.

For the girls team, sophomore Sophia Hirtle finished first with a time of 21:55.90, followed by sophomore Brooklyn Doorey in second with a time of 22:51.10, and in third was sophomore Sarah Dorrel with a time of 22:53.90.

Sophomore Emma Grace Reville said, “I think the team did great. I’m really proud of everyone. I personally did better than I’ve ever done in the past because it's Elks, which is a really hard course. I’m more proud of the team than myself.”

Pinecrest came in first on the girls side with a team score of 15, followed with Richmond Senior in second with a score of 52, and Hoke County High School in third with a score of 77.

The Patriots boys cross country team also came in first with a score of 25, followed by Scotland High School in second with a score of 36, and Hoke County High School in third with a score of 82, and Richmond Senior High School finished in fourth with a score of 93.

 

Sophomore Emory Bradley said, “Our team did really well and we ran together as a pack, which is why we did really well.”
