Pinecrest Plays Annual Orchestra Winter Concert

By Rachel Rodgers

On Wednesday, December 14, the Pinecrest Orchestra performed their annual Winter Concert.

The orchestra played Christmas music, as well as other pieces.

The advanced orchestra played “Silent Night,” “Concerto Grosso,” “Marche Slav,” and “Lyric Metal.”

The beginner and intermediate orchestra played “Winter Wonderland” with “Let it Snow,” “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and “Drifen.”

The Old Time Music Club performed in this concert for the first time and they played “Mississippi Sawyer,” “Soldiers’ Joy,” and “Angelina Baker.”

“I think that the concert went very well, we pulled it together and I’m proud of how we did with such a masterpiece such as Concerto Grosso,” said senior Kaycie Atherton

The orchestra has been working on these songs since their fall concert.

The concert had a large audience of over 230 people. They made $1,100.

The funds are going towards the orchestra trip in the spring. The advanced orchestra is going to Washington D.C. The beginner and intermediate orchestra are going to Williamsburg, VA.

“We definitely did better than the last time. Of course, we had a few mistakes here and there, but we have improved since our last concert. We’ve worked extremely hard,” said junior Jessalyn Ngyuen.
