The Addams Family is coming to Pinecrest

By Kathryn Holton

On Monday, October 9, 2017, Pinecrest Players, the theatre program at Pinecrest High School, announced that the spring musical will be The Addams Family.

Pinecrest alumni Noah Ambrose, Kira Campbell, Jacora “Koko” Watkins, Chris Cox, Jake Giovanni, Emilee Phillips, and Morgan Sills acted as the characters as they revealed the musical.

Once revealed, students cheered and ran to the stage to reunite with the former Pinecrest Players.

“I am excited for it. I think it’s a good idea, and it has a lot of ensemble opportunities,” said senior Jessica Matchlet.

The ensemble is the group of actors who work together on stage. The ensemble helps support the lead actors and the presence on stage.

“I can’t wait,” junior Christopher Harrison said. “The music is a great choice and we have the actors to back up the attitude and characterization needed.”

On November 27-30, 2017, the audition workshops will be held. The dance and song will be taught to students and acting scenes will be given. These will be the audition pieces for students.

Auditions will begin on January 2-5, 2018. Students are recommended to audition with the song and dance if they want an ensemble role. If they want to audition for a lead or supporting lead, then they also have to audition with the acting scene.

There will be a musical showcase at North Moore High School on February 19, 2018 where the local high schools will perform a part of their spring musical.

The performance weekend will be March 16-18, 2018. On Friday and Saturday the show will be in the evening, and on Sunday the show will be in the afternoon.

Students gathered on stage after the reveal on October 9, 2017.
