On Tuesday, February 28, 2017, Pinecrest track team hosted their first outdoor track meet of the season called the Moore County Championship meet. The teams that participated in this meet include Union Pines High School and the O’Neal School.

 

For the girls 4x800 relay Pinecrest A team came in 3rd with a time of 11:24.20. For the boys 4x800 relay Pinecrest A team came in 2nd with a time of 8:52.66 close behind Unions Pines A who ran a time of 8:44.78.

 

Pinecrest girls dominated the 100 meter hurdles taking 1st and 2nd place. Senior Jada Brown got 1st place with a time of 18.16 while junior Taya McKeithan came in a close 2nd with a time of 19.57. For the boys 110 meter hurdles senior Alex Worley tied with Union Pines junior Brandon Deloatch for 1st place with a time of 16.76.

 

Junior Taya McKeithan said, “The 300 meter hurdles went well. Surprisingly, I did well and placed second overall, breaking my personal record. The other girls also did well. The meet overall went great even though it was a bit chilly when the sun went down but we still ended up having a good meet.”

 

For the girls 100 meter dash sophomores Porsalyn Murchinson and Kristen Provencher took 5th and 6th. In the dash for 5th place Murchinson ran a 14.15 while Provencher followed close behind in 6th place with a time of 14.19. For the boys 100 meter dash senior JT Adams took 1st place with a time of 11.49 followed behind Unions Pines junior Samuel Algeo with a time of 11.50. Senior Christopher Owens came in 3rd with a time of 11.72 followed by freshman Zyheem Kelly with a time of 11.83.

 

For the girls 4x100 meter relay Pinecrest A team came in 1st with a time of 54.33 followed closely by Union Pines A with a time of 54.88. The Pinecrest B teams came in 3rd with a time of 57.27. For the boys 4x100 meter relay Pinecrest A team came in 1st with a time of 44.69.

 

Sophomore Matthew Graves said “I was happy with my relay teams performance in the 4x100 especially with it being the first meet of the season.”

 

For the girls 1600 meter run Pinecrest got 2nd through 5th place. Senior Kayla Devine came in 2nd with a time of 6:05.44, 3rd was junior Katie Ochoa with a time of 6:06.06, 4th was sophomore Sophia Hirtle with  a time of 6:07.46 and, in 5th was sophomore Brooklyn Doorey with a time of 6:08.84. For the boys 1600 meter run freshman Dillon Black came in 3rd with a time of 5:08.46.

 

For the girls 4x200 meter relay the Pinecrest A team came in 1st with a time of 1:55.79. For the boys 4x200 the Pinecrest A team came in 1st with a time of 1:35.48.  

 

For the boys 300 meter hurdles senior Alex Worley came in 1st with a time of 42.54.

 

For the girls 800 meter run junior Macie Kavanaugh came in 1st with a time of 2:30.97. For the boys 800 meter run junior Colin Alexander came in 1st with a time of 2:00.14.

 

For the girls 200 meter dash sophomore Kristen Provencher came in 3rd with a time of 28.99 followed by sophomore Shi’Diamond Utley. For the boys 200 meter dash senior JT Adams came in 1st with a time of 23.03 followed by sophomore Walker Mabe with a time of 23.83.

 

For the boys 3200 meter run junior Nick Klug came in 1st with a time of 11:40.90 followed by junior Nate Sanborn with a time of 11:44.20.

 

For the girls 4x400 Pinecrest A team came in 1st with a time of 4:20.59. For the boys 4x400 Pinecrest A team came in 1st with a time of 3:36.03.

 

For girls high jump senior Emily Doorey came in 1st with a height of 4 feet 8 inches. For the boys senior Christopher Owens came in 2nd with a height of 5 foot 8 inches.

 

For girls long jump sophomore Asia Adams came in 2nd with a distance of 15 feet 3 inches. For the boys long jump sophomore Zaythan Hill came in 1st with a distance of 20 feet 4 inches.

 

For girls triple jump sophomore Asia Adams came in 1st with a distance of 30 feet 1 inch. For the boys triple jump freshman T Jaden Gaddy came in 1st with a distance of 37 feet 5 inches and sophomore Christian Elliott came in 2nd with a distance of 35 feet.

 

For girls shot put Trinity Wells came in 1st with a distance of 33 feet.
