By Katie Blevins

Senior Jaylin Dickerson who is safety on the varsity football team will be participating in the 80th annual Shrine Bowl. The Shrine Bowl consists of the top football players from South Carolina and North Carolina for one big football game.

The game takes place in Spartanburg, South Carolina on December 17. The game is played to help benefit the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Coach Metzger said, “I think it is a huge honor for Jaylin to get to play in this and it’s awesome for our school. He’s going to be our third Patriot to play.”

Dickerson said that when he found out he was selected for the Shrine Bowl, it “didn’t feel real to be selected as one of the top players in North Carolina.”

Dickerson has also committed to play for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks next year. Dickerson said he chose South Carolina because “they have the number one international business field in America, which really caught my attention. And, I think the coaching staff will give me the best opportunity to get to the NFL.”

“Jaylin was fortunate to have a ton of options,” Coach Metzger said.  “He's a smart kid; he really thought it through.”
