Friday, February 10, 2017 was the Pinecrest Heart to Heart Dance. Held at the Elks Club in Southern Pines, this dance was a little different from others. Instead of guys asking girls to the dance, girls had to ask guys. While this made many girls nervous, most of the them gathered up the courage and asked someone, even if they were just friends. Overall, the dance was a huge hit. It was the first year that it had been done, and everyone was very excited for it.

Students were dropped off at around 8:00pm on Friday night at the Elks Club and by 9:00pm, it was packed. As always, there were teachers at the door checking in people. They checked student IDs and tickets to make sure they were valid. Students were then free to enter and quickly made their way into the packed room, with a dance floor in the very center.

Aside from the dance floor, there were many tables for students to put their belongings and a long table with refreshments and snacks. Within the first hour, the dance floor was already crowded with many people dancing along to the music.

After many hours of dancing, the Heart to Heart dance ended at about 11:30pm.

The junior class president, Emma Gentry Landry, who helped organize the dance said, “It was so great to have so many people there. The last three years we have tried to put it on and this year we were able to start advertising early and able to get a good reaction back from the students. I am really hoping to do another one like it next year.”

Freshman Brinkley Tivnan said, “I really enjoyed it. In my opinion, it wasn’t as fun as Homecoming, but I still had an amazing time!”
