For the past few years, Pinecrest High School has charged students to attend sporting events. Depending on the sport, the ticket prices range from $5 to $7. This is a reasonable price, but there were students who wouldn’t attend the games because of it.

However, that is not the case this year. Along with having multiple new coaches and a new athletic director, Pinecrest’s newest change is a favorite among students: free admission to games. Instead of being charged for the sports games, students may have free admission, as long as they have a student ID. with them. Hopefully, more students will attend the games.

“I like it because I can cheer on my school without having to worry about buying a ticket,” said sophomore Maddie Arrington.

After asking 44 students, 77.5% of the students said they would be more likely to attend games this year because of the free admission.

“Well, I don’t go to sports games,” senior Jessica Matchlat said, “but free admission makes me more likely to think about going, so I like it.”

“This is a good way for students to come and support their classmates,” senior Maria Molamphy said. “This will benefit students who don’t work so they don’t have to pay $7 each Friday.”

Students want to cheer on their team, but they don’t want to pay the price for tickets. With the free game admission, students feel they can come to more games, and they won’t feel the need to break their bank accounts. Hopefully, having more students show their Patriot Pride.
