Patriots Take Trip to France and Spain

A trip to “Paris, the Côte d’Azur and Barcelona.” is a trip to France, the Mediterranean coast, and Spain. The trip is from July 10 to July 18, 2017. The trip costs a total of $3,500.

There is an informational meeting about the trip on March 23, 2017 at 6:00pm in room 9112.

The cut off date to sign up for the trip is the end of January.

Junior Madelyn Foster, who plans to go on the trip, said, “I’m excited my friend and I are going. We're just excited to see the different places.”

The teacher that originally planned the trip was Mrs. Hill, a former Pinecrest French teacher.

 

She designed the trip to both France and Spain to help foreign language students experience the different cultures.

Mr. Williams, the teacher in charge of the trip, said, “The trip would be a great senior trip, better than senior beach week. You will be talking about a trip to Spain and France 20 years from now.”

When on the trip, students will land in Paris where they will spend two and a half to three days.

July 11, students will visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, have a Paris city walk and visit the Louvre, the world's largest art museum. The students will then finish their second day in Paris by having dinner at the Latin Quarter.

 

July 12, in Paris students will go on a sightseeing tour to see the landmarks of Paris. On this tour students will visit the famous monument of Arc de Triomphe, the shopping avenue Champs-Elysées, the Eiffel Tower, the military training facility of École Militaire, the museum and monument Les Invalides, the old prison and current court Conciergerie, the Palace of Tuileries, Place Vendȏme, and the famous Opera House.

 

Finally, students will finish their day on the Seine River cruise.

 

There is also an optional trip to the State Apartments, Hall of Mirrors and Garden of Versailles for an extra $80.

July 13, students will travel to Nice on the TGV, Europe’s fastest train.

The students will then take a sightseeing tour of Monaco and Éze to visit the Prince’s Palace and the Parfumerie. Later that day, students will take a sightseeing tour in Nice to visit the town of Vieux Nice then to Promenade des Anglais.  

Students will then travel to Provence for a sightseeing tour to Avignon, the ancient aqueduct of Pont Du Gard, Nîmes amphitheater, and Les Baux de Provence.

Students then travel to Barcelona and have dinner at Tapas. While in Barcelona, students will go on a sightseeing tour to the temple of Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, Montjuic Hill and Park Güell.

 

Later that evening, there will be a Barcelona city walk to the market of Mercat de la Boqueria, the street of Las Ramblas and the Columbus Monument.

 

The students will spend their final night having a Paella dinner.
