College Fair Helps Seniors Plan Future

By Megan Petero and Kathryn Holton

On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, Pinecrest hosted a college fair where more than 50 colleges from around the country were represented. Some of the most known schools at the fair were The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, The University of Alabama, and North Carolina State University.

According to Scholarship Coordinator Ms. Tami Devine, “The purpose of this College Fair was to offer Pinecrest seniors an opportunity to gather final pieces of information, and speak to college representatives from participating schools in the CACRAO organization.” CACRAO stands for Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.

“I like that this is available to students,” said senior Ivy Klaton. “Some people might not be able to go on college visits, so it’s important they learn about schools.”

“I believe the students that attended this event will benefit as they had a final opportunity to narrow down their college choices in the midst of their college application season,” said Devine. Additionally, students were given tips so they could figure out what college is a good fit for them.

“I think it is cool that they are doing it because a lot of these places I should be looking at,” said senior Chloe Wempe.
