Coach Foxx is Set to Retire in January

By Katie Blevins

Coach Foxx had been a coach at Pinecrest for 38 years and she has decided to retire in January.

She is a girls’ weight training coach, a freshmen PE teacher, and the girls’ volleyball coach.

Over the past 38 years, Foxx has made a major impact on many athletes lives such as Junior Varsity  and Varsity volleyball player Taya McKeithan.

McKeithan said, “Foxx’s impact on me was she helped me get stronger and become a better athlete since I’ve been at Pinecrest. She also taught me to never quit on something that you love to do. She will be truley missed here because of the impact she has made on our lives.”

Coach Foxx had no particular reason to retire, she “just knew it was time.” Foxx’s last official day is January 1.

Foxx said, “The thing I will miss the most about working here is the interaction with the students and the faculty.”

Even though  Foxx may be retiring, her legacy will live on with pictures of her accomplishments in the upstairs girls’ weight training room.

The weight training room will also be named after her.

Foxx decided to become a coach because she liked the way that her physical education teachers were so involved, and she wanted to be like them, to be able to teach and train in the same way they did.
