Pinecrest Basketball Takes Down Jack Britt

On Wednesday, December 14, 2016, Pinecrest varsity men’s basketball team took on Jack Britt High School.

 

Pinecrest won with a final score of 48-30.

 

Pinecrest was up 21-11 at the end of the first half and kept that lead throughout the second half.

 

This win helped to keep the team undefeated with a record of 10-0.

 

Senior Donnie Haith scored 15 points and junior Jamaan Bailey scored 12 points.  

   

Coach Snyder said, “I thought our kids handled adversity really well. They were down at one point 4-9. Our defense played really well. We did shoot well, but we played really well, and the kids did a great job of sticking together. It was good for us to go against a good defensive team. It’s going to make us better offensively as we move forward.”

The women’s varsity basketball team also played Jack Britt on December 14, 2016.

 

The women’s team won with a final score of 39-32.

 

At the end of the first half, Pinecrest was up 14-11 and kept that lead through the second half to come out with the win.

 

Sophomore Malika Dailey had 4 points, junior Aaliyah Peterkin had 6 points,  freshman Keayna McLaughlin had 15 points, senior Tamaya Leak had 7 points, junior Tykiaya Carter had 5 points, and sophomore Carley Modlin had 2 points.  

The boys team won with a final score of 71-35 and the women’s team lost to Union Pines with a score of 34-45.

Tickets to the game were only $2. Student Government Association did this to try to get more students to come to the game.

Cheerleader senior Destiny Persons said, “There was way more energy at this game. There were way more people there because the ticket cost was only $2 and we were cheering louder than usual.”
